Balta grows into 295 showroom space

AT THE NEW YORK MARKET —

Balta Inc. is displaying its wares in a showroom this market, a first for the area rug supplier, said Pat Moyer, president. The company signed the lease two weeks ago.

The 1,750-square-foot space is in suite 1504 of the Textile Building, located at 295 Fifth Ave.

"We were ready to be in New York for market," Moyer said. "We are ready to be considered a serious source for the major players."

The company is offering several new collections in a range of price points, from its new 1.1-million-point polypropylene rugs that are set to retail for $249 through its promotional flat-weave rugs set to retail for $79 to $99. Balta Inc., the U.S., division of the Belgium manufacturing company, marks its one-year anniversary in April.

Oriental Weavers was formerly in the space but moved to a much larger showroom, which measures 5,780 square feet, in suite 512. Oriental is also accommodating its Sphinx imported rug division at this new space for market.
