New York —
Marvin Traub, former chairman of Bloomingdale's and current president of Marvin Traub Associates here, has formed a joint venture company, Murjani Traub India Limited, to bring international brands and retailing concepts to India.
Traub's partner, Mohan Murjani, head of the Murjani Group based here, was one of the early leaders in brand name development and marketing, launching among other brands Gloria Vanderbilt, Coca-Cola Clothes and Tommy Hilfiger.
In April 2004, Vijay Murjani, son of Mohan Murjani, launched Tommy Hilfiger in India and now has six free-standing stores and six planned for the first half of this year. Murjani also has launched several licensed categories including home furnishings, watches, fragrances, and underwear.
Murjani Traub has offices here and in Mumbai and will consult with Indian retailers and developers on expansion as well as aiding global brands to enter the Indian market.
