Design Within Reach to add bedding

SAN FRANCISCO -- Design Within Reach, a retailer of modern furniture and accessories (including rugs), will introduce sheets, blankets and bedding accessories this fall.
The retailer -- which sells through its Web site, catalog, 51 “studio” locations and an independent sales force -- also has named Karen John director of product development. John, who has been a consultant to the company since 2003, oversaw the development of the bedding line. Previously, she worked for Antonio Citterio & Partners, an international design firm inMilan, and Austin-based enterprise software company Trilogy.John will oversee the company's product development efforts “by pairing the industry's most elite designers and capable manufacturers to design and produce products that meet customers' needs, and create solutions to unsolved design challenges,” according to the company.
