Westex International Teams with Multi Glory

Westex International here and Multi Glory of Hangzhou, China, have joined into a business force that will enable retailers to buy basic bedding products on a direct import basis and have local replenishment and manufacturing in North America.

The companies produce and market duvets and comforters in down and down alternatives as well as mattress pads and bed pillows. Westex markets primarily in Canada and has been a major customer of Multi Glory, a global supplier. Under the new arrangement "as a partner rather than as a customer, we will have a price advantage," explained Ellis Chitiz, Westex president. "This will give retailers a number of options, including buying in China and replenishing in Canada. We will have ready to ship merchandise here."

The partnership also will shorten delivery times — and perhaps lower retails, Chitiz added. Westex also will continue producing basic bedding "from scratch," and the partnership will offer significant turnaround opportunities.

Westex will continue to have dual production — filling both here and in China, Chitiz said.

As a result of the arrangement, Westex has begun building an expanded sales staff. "We can easily be a one stop shop for all basic bedding needs, all under the new registered brand Sleep Solutions, with the added value of Westex Laundry Solutions" Chitiz noted.

Tennyson Ko, vp of Multi Glory added, "The partnership with Westex will allow our company to be closer to our North American customers and service levels will improve dramatically."
