CULVER CITY, CALIF. —
Sony Pictures Consumer Products has revealed its lineup of licensees for "Astro Boy," the new Japanese anime series that recently debuted on the Kids' WB network.
Leading the way for the license is Dan River, which will produce a complete line of bedding and accessories aimed at boys, ages four to 12. The line will reflect the action, fantasy and adventure of the new series in comforters, sheet sets, pillowcases, bed skirts, pillow shams, window treatments, blankets and decorative pillows.
Laurie Berkin, director of licensing and marketing at Dan River, said, "The new anime series, with its state-of-the-art animation, provides us with spectacular artwork that has allowed us to really use our imagination and push our creative limits to capture the essence of this world-renowned property."
In addition to Dan River, Sony Pictures Consumer Products has signed with Mohawk Home and Baby Boom for other soft home products that will begin rolling out in time for the back-to-school season.
Mohawk will introduce a line of fleece, hi pile and cotton throws, as well as printed scatter rugs, aimed at boys, ages three to seven.
Baby Boom Consumer Products will manufacture an extensive line of toddler bedding and coordinating room décor designed to let kids decorate their rooms from top to bottom. Bedding includes comforters, pillowcases, fitted and flat sheets, while coordinating room décor includes cuddle pillows, lamps, picture holders, wall hangings, and ceramic banks.
