J.R. United creates label for new embellished line, gets new NY showroom

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 2/24/2003 3:04:00 PM

Miami — Bath, beach and kitchen towel supplier J.R. United Industries Inc. is gearing up for the launch at spring market of its new line of embellished towels, for which it recently created the new Reign label.

"We wanted a name that made you think of castles, palaces, estates, that kind of thing," Salo Grosfeld, president, said. "We wanted the customer to feel like her house is her castle with this product."

Embellished and embroidered goods represent the newest business for the company. Last winter International Terry Products, an affiliate company, purchased the defunct Davidson Cotton's embroidery and embellishment factory in Matamoros, Mexico, and relocated equipment from that facility to its company headquarters here.

Reign will be positioned as the company's upstairs house brand, with bath towels hitting suggested retail price points of $14.99 through $24.99.

Constructions include solid terry, yarn-dyed jacquard and solid color velour, among others.

For the launch of Reign, J. R. United will introduce four collections, each composed of five designs and five colorways.

In other news, J.R. United for the first time will test a New York showroom for the upcoming market event, at 200 Madison Ave.
