JLA Home Fabrics teams with Delta for JLA Direct

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 9/4/2008 2:56:00 PM

Reidsville, N.C. – JLA Home Fabrics has reached an agreement with Yangtze River Delta Textile Co., to design and promote a new line, JLA Direct, that will be a competitively priced line of jacquards.

The new venture is in addition to the existing JLA Home Fabrics product line, said George Kerr, president of JLA Home Fabrics. “We know Delta as a real quality producer with good value. And we will design and market for the U.S. marketplace.”

The Hangzhou, China-based company is owned by Freeman Shen and was started in 2003. While the United States represents about 70% of its sales, it also sells to the United Kingdom and Germany, Shen commented. It specializes in yarn dyed and pieced dyed jacquards with most fabrics using polyester along with rayon, acrylic or polypropylene.

At capacity, Delta can produce a million yards a month, Shen said, “and we use lots of home weavers – about 300 who work for us exclusively. We have a strong manufacturing team and JLA has a strong sales team and is a strong competitor.”

The companies will introduce the new line at Showtime in High Point, N.C. in December.

Scott Jeffreys, who was with Westlake Fabrics, will design the Direct line, Kerr noted.
