Elegance tops High Point market

By Carole Slaon -- Home Textiles Today, 5/3/2004 12:00:00 AM

Dressmaker details, subtle embellishments and elegant fabrics were the stars of the home textiles products introduced at the International Home Furnishings Market here last week.

Soft ruffles, fluted pleats, ribbons and banding were among the many details that created understated but highly decorative beds.

A number of companies used a melange of fabrics on a bed — all with the same soft, rich elegant feeling. Heaviness in fabric or look is out of fashion.

Pink and green were used in combination creating a fresh Florida look, with universal appeal. In an opposite direction, soft, slightly iridescent shades of rose, gold, green, amethyst and blue were elegant in failles, taffetas, soft cottons and sateens.

Continuing a trend of several years, a number of new bedding tie-ins with furniture collections were announced: Eastern Accents with Thomasville for its Hemingway and Irving Park groups; and Thief River Linen with Diesel's UpTown Collection.
