Target debuts mobile coupons

Minneapolis – After debuting mobile gift cards last month, Target is launching a scannable mobile coupon program through which consumers receive offers on their mobile phones, then scan a barcode on the phone at checkout.

Target claims to be the first retail with the technology to scan mobile barcodes in all 1,740 of its stores.

Consumers can sign up the mobile program from their PC at Target.com/mobile. Alternatively, they can sign up using their mobile phone at m.target.com or by texting COUPONS to 827438 (which spells Target).
