Meryvns to shutter 15% of store base
Mervyns plans to close 26 of its 176 units by late October or early November as part of its reorganization under Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Mervyns is exiting Idaho and Texas, where it had one store and six stores, respectively. The retailer is closing four units in Arizona (three of them in Phoenix), 11 in California and 4 in New Mexico.
Consumer insight firm to aid My Macy's initiative
Macy's has signed a multi-year contract with consumer insight firm dunhumbyUSA to become the exclusive department store customer for its services. dunnhumby will analyze Macy's customer sales data, develop customer segmentation models, and work with Macy's to apply its findings to the retailer's My Macy's localization merchandising and marketing strategy. dunnhumbyUSA is a joint venture between The Kroger Company and London-based dunnhumby. Its clients include Kroger, Tesco, Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo, and The Home Depot.
