Shafran tapped at Springs

NORTH VERNON, IN —

Following the retirement later this month of Andrew Smithson, ceo of bath, accent and scatter rugs manufacturer and importer Regal, Springs Industries has named Joe Shafran to head Regal.

The position is not a direct replacement of Smithson, the company said. However, Shafran, a longtime employee of Regal and currently general manager, will become the primary contact for Regal's accounts.

Smithson will retire as of Dec. 31 after 28 years at Regal in various executive capacities.
