Easley to retire from Springs

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 7/7/2003 12:00:00 AM

Fort Mill, SC — Springs Industries announced today that Bill Easley, president of textile manufacturing, will retire this fall.

His 38-year career with Springs began as a management trainee. In addition to posts in operations, including vp of grey manufacturing and president of manufacturing for the Bed Fashions Group, in 1987 he was named vp of human resources and in 1993 he was named president of the former Performance Home Fashions business. He was appointed to his current position in 1995 and has since been responsible for bedding fabric and finishing operations, as well as corporate engineering, product development and research and development functions.

"Bill has been a key contributor to Springs in many different roles during his career," said Crandall Bowles, Springs chairman and ceo. "Most recently he has been a valued member of our senior management team, where his input and advice have been most helpful to me."

"I am grateful to Crandall and to the many people at Springs who have been such a pleasure to work with," Easley said. "Now I can look forward to new opportunities and a chance to pursue things that are difficult to do when working full time, such as volunteering, continuing education in subjects that are of interest to me, and spending time with family."
