Islands Infuse Hilfiger Home

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 7/30/2007 12:00:00 AM

Tommy Hilfiger Home is focusing on an island theme for its spring 2008 collection, with resort influences as far flung as Canton and Nantucket.

That's not to say the line is all sun and sand. Compass Point consists of panels of rich browns laid across the face of the bed horizontally, reversing to a monochromatic paisley. House on the Hill is a bold, cocoa batik done in a positive/negative on the front and back of the comforter, paired with a chocolate and cream shirting stripe sheet.

Falling into more characteristic island themes, Oak Bluffs nods to Nantucket with a blue, bandana-inspired print done in a washed-out, sun-bleached hue, reversing to a batik.

Canton is an Asian-inspired mélange of geometrics and trailing floral vine in a tweaked version of Hilfiger's classic red, white and blue palette. "We feel that the Asian trend is very strong, a very similar to Anthropologie today," said Jared Clark, the line's designer.

The collection includes several more youthful looks as well. La Croix is a bright, oversized paisley paired with a Tommy shirting stripe. Hibiscus Hill features scaled-up pink and green medallions floating on a ground touched with floral eyelet. Sanibel pairs colorful butterflies with shirting stripes and plaid. Grand Cay is a nautical print on a textured substrate.
