Friedman out as coo of Williams-Sonoma

SAN FRANCISCO — Gary Friedman, president and chief operating officer of Williams-Sonoma, has resigned.
Friedman who has been with the company for 13 years "will pursue other opportunities."
"Gary has made a significant contribution to the growth of Williams-Sonoma over the last 13 years. His creative leadership has played a key role in our success and I am sorry to see him leave," said Howard Lester, chairman and ceo.
Friedman commented, "although this has been a difficult decision, my years at Williams-Sonoma have been rewarding, both professionally and personally."
Last month, the company named Dale Hilpert chief executive officer, effective April 1. Lester will remain chairman at that time.
