Cincinnati —
Peter Sachse, chairman and ceo of macys.com, has assumed an additional role as Macy's Inc. chief marketing officer and president of Macy's Corporate Marketing (MCM); in his new role, he replaces Anne MacDonald.
Sachse was the company's first cmo in June 2003, when he became president of the newly created MCM. He left the role when being named chairman of macys.com in 2006.
"By combining the leadership of our marketing and online functions under Peter Sachse, we will be able to more effectively leverage the company's fast-growing online presence as we continue to build Macy's as a national brand," said Terry Lundgren, Federated chairman, president and ceo.
Kent Anderson, president of macys.com, and Helaine Suval, evp for merchandising at macys.com, will continue to report to Sachse and work in close partnership with him on building the online business.
The company also named new presidents for its Macy's East and Macy's Florida units.
Macy's East president James Gray is retiring after a 46-year career. Mark Cosby, senior vp for property development, has been named president and coo of Macy's East. Cosby will join Ron Klein, chairman and ceo, as the principal team at Macy's East.
Cosby joined Federated (now Macy's Inc.) in July 2006 as svp for property development. Previously, he served as president of full-line stores for Sears Roebuck & Co., where his responsibilities included merchandising, store operations, and supply chain management.
David Scheiner has been named president and coo of Macy's Florida; he was previously vice chairman and director of stores of that division. He replaces divisional president Nirmal Tripathy, who has left the company. Scheiner will work alongside Julie Greiner, chairman and ceo, Macy's Florida.
Scheiner first joined Burdines (predecessor of Macy's Florida) in 1972 as assistant buyer of men's slacks. In 1988, he became president of Maas Brothers/Jordan Marsh; upon the merger of the Burdines and Mass Brothers/Jordan Marsh in 1991 he became vice chairman and director of stores for the new organization.
Gray had been president of Macy's East since 1994. From 1985 to 1988, he was president of Los Angeles-based Bullock's (now part of Macy's West) and was also ceo from 1987 to 1988. Gray joined Federated in 1961 as an executive trainee at Foley's in Houston (now part of Macy's South).
Mr. Peter Sachse,
Dear Sir,
I hope that Macy''s stores this year will be decorated for Christmas and have that word ''Christmas'' everywhere in the store.
When I was a child, my mother took me in on the train from Oyster Bay, NY and I was to go see ''Santa.'' To this day (I am 69), I have never seen anything like that Santa. He was in a room of his own. A winter land scene. I believed he was the ''Real Santa.''
His outfit was real, his room was real, and the only problem I had was whether or not he would be on time for Christmas.
The windows of the store were decorated for Christmas. Not in Silver or white, but green and red. (elves too please, and angels singing.)
Please bring that Santa back... Be the Macy''s of my childhood dreams. Don''t wish us a ''Happy Holiday'' wish us a ''Merry Christmas,''as I wish my friends who don''t celebrate the holiday but feel the peace and love at this time of year.
Merry Christmas.
Thank you.
