My Three Beans jumps into juvenile market

By Marvin Lazaro -- Home Textiles Today, 4/29/2002 12:00:00 AM

Sporting a line designed to be as unique as its name, My Three Beans came to market with its sights firmly set on the highly competitive juvenile market.

Based in Phoenix, the four-year-old company is hoping to break into the department and specialty retail channels with its open-stock line of bedding for boys, girls and infants. The line includes sheets, comforters, decorative pillows, bedskirts and shams for beds, cribs and Moses baskets. Prior to making its market entry here, the company has primarily serviced high-end boutiques in the Phoenix area.

"I wanted to be able to introduce myself to this market," said Lulu Burt, owner. "I'm really hoping to create a new customer base on the East Coast.

"So far, it's been great. A lot of people have stopped by and all of them really seemed to like the looks we have. I'm really excited to come here because everything has been so positive."

The juvenile beds are very gender specific with titles such as Route 66, Fashion Girl, Wild West, Gone Fishing and In Flight. An example of the detailed looks include a plastic window on one of the decorative pillows with real sand and shells inside. With the exception of a few items, the line is domestically manufactured, also in Phoenix.

Retail prices for the line range from $300 for a twin comforter and $650 for a crib set.
