Shanghai Homeland recruits Rogers for U.S.

Shanghai – Home textiles veteran Rick Rogers has been hired by Shanghai Homeland Textile to ramp up its presence in the U.S. market.

Rogers joined the company in late July as managing director of American Homeland Inc. He will work out of Danbury, Conn., and report to Grand Lu, ceo of the parent firm.

“It’s a great opportunity,” Rogers told HTT. “We’re still formulating a strategy, but I think we have the capability of servicing all levels of the market -- and that is our ultimate objective.”

Rogers spent much of his earlier career at WestPoint Pepperell and WestPoint Stevens where his final position was vp of bed sourcing. He also worked at Comfort Fabrics and Joan Fabrics. In these roles, Rogers gained considerable experience in international sales and most recently in international sourcing.

Shanghai Homeland is a fabric mill that also does cut and sew; 99% of its production is exported, primarily to the U.K. and Europe.
