Safavieh adds wholesale furniture division

High Point , N.C. -- Upscale area rug supplier Safavieh is adding wholesale furniture to its assortment, and to help show it off it is expanding its showroom here. The line comes in five collections -- American Home Furniture, Hudson Leather, Kent Leather, Manhattan Slip Cover Upholstery, and Regency House.

Safavieh has for the past five years sold branded furniture and some of its own imported goods at its 10 New York regional outlet stores. But for the first time the company is now creating its own separate wholesale collection and making it available to retailers nationwide, explained Dick Miller, director of sales for the newly created wholesale furniture division.

The company hosted a soft launch of the wholesale furniture last summer at its other permanent showroom, in Las Vegas . “The response has been strong,” said Cyrus Yaraghi, a Safavieh principal. “We are gearing up for projected growth in both furniture and rugs because of the synergies gained when both categories are merchandised together.”
