By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 3/8/2007 1:48:00 PM

New York – Welspun USA will dramatically expand its reach in the home textiles world with the launch of a decorative bedding division prior to the August 2007 New York Home Fashions Market.

The company has hired Tim Landers as national sales director for bedding products to support the initiative. Landers recently resigned from Springs Global US, where he was vp, sheet merchandising. Earlier he held several positions with Springs in sales and merchandising management, joining the company from the former May D & F, Denver .

In addition, Eric Hester has joined the company as production chief for Welspun’s new bedding plant at Anjar , India . He most recently served as facility/operations manager for WestPoint Home at its Alamance Center plant in Burlington , N.C. , and earlier was WestPoint’s plant manager in the bedding facility in Hickory , N.C.

Welspun expanded from its towel manufacturing base into sheeting about 18 months ago, and since has added blankets to its mix. In 2006 it acquired Christy’s, an upscale British towel producer. With addition of the decorative bedding business and staff, the company expects to open an office in Charlotte , N.C. within a few months.
