Competition Open to Pros and Students

The Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles Design Competition returns in 2007, offering designers an opportunity to attract new partnerships. The competition in 2006 featured 3,227 entries received from Chinese and overseas designers.

The theme of this year's competition is Mix & Match: east meets west, old versus new, primitive versus modern…the theme provides no limit for designers to show off their talents and imaginations.

Winning pieces will be viewed by the thousands of designers, manufacturers, buyers and design studios attending the show, which will run Aug. 29-31. Some also may be displayed at a special exhibit in the Home Textile Decoration City of Haining, this fall.

Event producer Messe Frankfurt notes that China's rising living standards, major construction projects, hosting of the Olympic Games in 2008 and the World Expo in 2010, all contribute to increasing demand for original home textiles design.
