Williamsburg, Va. —
Williamsburg and Waverly together has launched the new Tidewater decorative fabric collection, presented by P/K Lifestyles, a P.Kaufmann division.
The 10 new complementary fabrics offer special graphics, two-tone resist effects in bright colors, carefully rendered botanicals, and wovens -- all inspired by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's vast archives of textiles, furniture and apparel.
"Waverly has created a beautiful and extensive collection of prints and wovens with a more relaxed, informal look," said Gail Burger, product manager for Williamsburg.
The Tidewater collection from Waverly allows consumers to mix and match looks. Each fabric draws from nature-inspired elements and tells a piece of early American history.
For example, the Custis Garden pattern is inspired from several antique botanical illustrations in Colonial Williamsburg's rare book collections. This fabric is eponymous with 18th-century gardener John Custis.
Paradise Palm and Tucker Resist, two other examples, depict unique birds and rich flora. Pam Maffei-Toolan, vp of design for P. Kaufmann, updated this traditional design with contemporary lines. P.Kaufmann is the Waverly licensee for decorative fabrics; Waverly is owned by Iconix Brand Group.
