Program Focused on Design Will Feature Talks From Alvisi, Fisher, and Lembo

Shanghai, China — Next week's Intertextile Shanghai Fair will include a symposium focused on design.

The China Home Textile Development Symposium will take place Aug. 23 and will cover developments in home textiles design and trends. Speakers include:

• Fulvio Alvisi, president of Alvisi e Alvisi design studio in Como and president of the Italian Textile Designer Association, Europe's largest professional textiles designers' group with more than 60 studios. He will discuss European home interior trends for fall/winter 2006/2007 as well as the Como Textile District in Italy.

• Karen Fisher, president of Designer Previews, the agent for more than 300 American, European and Asian interior design and architectural firms. Designer Previews projects range from single family houses and housing developments to major public works, restaurants and hotels. Fisher is the author of many books on interior design. She will discuss home textiles trends in the U.S. market.

• Joseph Lembo, a designer whose portfolio includes home and lifestyle products Polo Ralph Lauren and Nautica Enterprises. Lembo is presently an interior designer in New York and a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. He will explore how trends create value.

The event is co-sponsored by Messe Frankfurt, The Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT and the China Home Textile Association (CHTA).
