JCP board names new director

PLANO, TX —
JCPenney's board of directors has elected Burl Osborne, retired president of Belo Corp.'s Publishing division, and current chairman of the board of The Associated Press, a director of JCPenney, effective April 1.
"Burl Osborne's successful business expertise in leading strategic growth, recruiting and developing talent, and directing quality improvements are consistent with all major objectives of our company," said Allen Questrom, chairman and ceo. "Burl Osborne oversaw the expansion of Belo's publishing enterprise and developed the company's flagship newspaper, The Dallas Morning News— recognized by Texas Monthly as "the best in Texas" — into one of America's finest newspapers.
