Calvin Klein debuts new table linens program

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 4/24/2002 12:00:00 AM

New York — Calvin Klein Home this morning unveiled its new table linens program, adding napkins, place mats, tablecloths and runners to the tabletop collection it introduced last year. The collection is produced through a licensing arrangement with Anaheim, CA-based table linen manufacturer W-C Designs.

The core solid-color Satin Band line features engineered jacquard borders on napkins and placemats and an all-over grid on tablecloths. The all-cotton line is available in nine colors, with retail pricing at $8 per placemat to $50 for a 15" x 70" table runner or a 60" x 84" oblong or oval tablecloth.

The design house debuted three other all-cotton programs: Textured Leaf, a diffused floral strewn over a field of purple reds and printed on slubby textures; Dotted Indigo Lines, deep blues with light blue accents printed on textured cotton; and Kimono Stripe, a shimmering satin-line ivory and dusty violet with a signature pearl edge detail. Retail pricing is $12 to $26 per placemat and $59 to $143 for a tablecloth.

Calvin Klein Home introduced two linen programs as well. The solid color Linen Pure, available in seven pale dusty colors, trims handkerchief linen with a baby hemstitch. Rustic Indigo Lines, available in two colors, interprets an antique kimono motif in saturated hues. Retails are $15 per placemat and $58 to $100 per table runner or tablecloth.

As part of its new Holiday Linen group, the 100% silk Shimmer Taffeta, in gold or platinum, prices from $22 for a napkin to $143 for a 60" x 84" oblong or oval tablecloth. In blends, the holiday collection offers Silver Lines, a linen/cotton/lurex with a wash of phosphorescence, and Copper Cross Dye, a cotton/poly in graphic gold and copper tints. Retails range from $15 to $23 on napkins and $100 to $143 on tablecloths.

Rounding out holiday is the Iridescent Grid Overlay, a lightweight iridescent woven silk that can be layered over Shimmer Taffeta or Copper Cross Dye. Retails range from $15 for a napkin overlay to $100 for a tablecloth overlay.

Calvin Klein Home also introduced two napkin/place mat collections. Cotton Linen Scrim blends the two fibers on a subtle micro-grin in a palette of nine nature-inspired colors priced at $15 per place mat and $12 per napkin. The all-linen Natural Flax line is available in three colors at prices of $18 per place mat and $15 per napkin.

Today's table linen introduction also included a freestanding place mat program with 11 skus, featuring 100 percent reed and 100 percent abaca constructions at $15 retail. At the $26 price point, place mats in various designs are available in a raffia/plastic blend or 100 percent wool. A 100 percent bamboo is offered at $38 and a resin rod place mat at $58.

Freestanding table runners in similar constructions are available from $58 to $72.
