Rich looks prevail at High Point

HIGH POINT, NC —
Luscious fabrics, rich embellishments and lots of deluxe trims and stitchery were the fashion statements among the home textiles exhibitors at the International Home Furnishings Market here earlier this month.
Tactile velvets, richly woven jacquards and lustrous silks were the leaders among the fashion fabrics. And among fabrics for bedding and decorative pillows, cotton organdy, taffetas and a plethora of fabrics with iridescent colorings were popular.
As usual, decorative trimmings and embellishments continued to be mainstays of the fashion statements; but for this market they were used more sparingly. Designers tended to a single, absolutely special trim or embellishment rather than a combination of many trims on one item. Hemstitching and cutwork also served as fashion accents.
