Elle Décor, Cooper-Hewitt launch ‘Women in Design’

New York – A new annual event, Women in Design, will be launched by Elle Décor magazine and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.
The inaugural event will take place next Monday, Nov. 17 at the Harold Pratt House here.
Women in Design will celebrate “outstanding female achievement in the fields of architecture, communications, fashion, interior, landscape and product design,” the partners said.
At the event, a panel co-hosted by Elle Décor editor-in-chief Margaret Russell and Cooper-Hewitt curatorial director Cara McCarty will share their professional influences and insights. The panelists:

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) president Paula Wallace will be honored with the first annual Elle Décor Vision Award.
“This program is about recognizing and inspiring women such as Paula who are making their mark in a field historically dominated by men,” said Russell. “These women aren't just changing the course of the design world, but the world itself.”
Also debuting will be the finalist student works in the RADO Design Competition organized by SCAD.
