San Francisco —
After nearly six decades, Capel Rugs has moved out of its longtime showroom here and into a new 5,000-square-foot space in the city’s design district.
Capel officially opened the showroom doors – located in Suite 9 of the Design Pavilion at 200 Kansas Street – on Jan. 21.
The new site is equipped with state-of-the-art, floor-to-ceiling racks to accommodate a display of more than 1,000 rugs. There are also a variety of other rug display enhancements, including the addition of a special rack for 8-by-10 sized one-of-a-kind hand-knotted rugs.
In addition, two back-to-back freestanding racks will showcase the Capel Braids – the American Originals line and the company’s Anywhere collection.
Capel’s licensed programs – Biltmore, Country Living, Williamsburg and Bob Timberlake – will all be showcased with “special emphasis,” the company said.
“Moving the showroom to the design district is a great opportunity for Capel to more effectively serve current designers, and to introduce the Capel brand to many individuals who shop exclusively in that area,” said Fran Wilson, manager of the showroom.
“Clients who have faithfully used the Market Street showroom over the years are very excited about the move.”
Capel spent the past 55 years in a showroom at the San Francisco Mart.
