Tietex shuffles structure

HIGH POINT, NC —

The appointment of Doug Henderson as vp, sales and market development at Tietex Interiors, a division of Tietex International, is part of a corporate reorganization that began late last year after Tietex acquired the upholstery fabrics business of Burlington Inds.

Under the new structure, Tietex Interiors is one of four business units including Ticking, Automotive and Technical. Mike Durham, former Burlington House upholstery vp, is president of the Interiors unit. Henderson, formerly with Main Street Textiles, reports to Durham.

Under the Interiors umbrella will be the residential upholstery fabrics unit, a supplier also to the home textiles manufacturing community; home furnishings fabrics, which produces fabrics specifically for the vertical blind, window covering and top of bed market segments; and contract fabrics. Steve Gravlee, is vp, sales and market development for those units.

And while specific product categories are produced by a single division, they are marketed to the other distribution channels, Durham explained.

For Showtime, "we will introduce a collection of velvets designed for the motion furniture business," he said. "Dave Klinker will head the sales and market development. We're dedicating key equipment and resources for this program."

The residential upholstery segment will launch a polyester velvet line of nearly 10 patterns designed for the stationary furniture segment. Both the motion and stationary collections also will be key for the home furnishings market, Durham explained.

The Interiors unit has moves its design and merchandising offices to the Resource Center here from the Burlington facilities in Greensboro, NC.
