Coldwater Creek to cut DC and 220 employees

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 1/11/2002 12:00:00 AM

Sandpoint, ID — Catalog, Internet and bricks-and-mortar retailer Coldwater Creek announced that it would close its distribution center in Sandpoint, ID, as a result of the stagnant economy. The DC is expected to shutter by the end of March, affecting approximately 120 employees. All distribution will now be through the company's 600,000-square-foot facility in Parkersburg, WV.

The company said that the closing will not affect long-term plans of the headquarters, which is also in Sandpoint, or at the customer service and technical center in Coeur d'Alene, ID. The company will also cut an additional 80 positions among its national retail store staff, and 20 more at the company headquarters, and plans to close two clearance outlet locations by March 1.

In other news, Donald Robson, executive vp and cfo, has resigned to pursue other opportunities, and Deena Presnell, corporate controller, will assume his duties until a replacement is named.
