High Point, N.C. – Special presentations and social activities will be important elements of Showtime, the semi-annual decorative fabrics show here Dec. 7-10.
New for this session is an Eco-Friendly Trend Bank that will spotlight fabrics and trimmings that are environmentally produced, by about a dozen member companies of the International Textile Market Association (ITMA), organizer of Showtime. Each supplier will show product samples as well as an explanation of each item’s green story.
The Trend Bank will feature an overview of new style directions with samples from exhibitors within Studio, based in the Suites at Market Square.
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, Fran Sude, creative director of Design Options, will present “Spring/Summer 2010, the West Coast perspective on color and trend for the home markets.” The session will be held at Market Square 278 at both 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Also on Tuesday, Susan Inglis of the Sustainable Furnishings Council will discuss “Standards and Certifications for Home Textiles” from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A benefit auction of clothing and accessories, custom designed using fabrics from industry sponsors, will run Dec.8-18.
Industry social events include an opening night gathering at Sammy G. Steakhouse in Market Square from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; an industry mixer on Monday night from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., also at Sammy G.’s; and a Showtime Social on Tuesday at Level One at Suites at Market Square, sponsored by Merchandise Mart Properties.
