JLA Home in Veken Coral Fleece Exclusive

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 9/16/2008 12:00:00 AM

Diversified home textiles supplier JLA Home has been named the exclusive distributor of patented Coral Fleece blankets and accessories by Veken Group.

China-based Veken Group Holding Co. holds the exclusive rights to the patented technology, as granted by the State Intellectual Property Office of The People's Republic of China, through May 18, 2025. And in recent weeks, two major favorable judgments were granted to Veken on product infringement cases against Chinese factories. Those factories were fined and ordered to immediately cease infringing on Veken's patent

"With Veken's intellectual property under protection, we can partner with Veken to control the quality and integrity of this patented product offering," said JLA blanket vp Dave Fraser. "Coral Fleece is a very successful core product that currently has too many versions coming from too many sources. Our market research and testing indicate that 100% of the Coral Fleece product coming out of China (or similar product currently on the market with fabric names such as Microraschel, Microplush, Supersoft plush) is made of fiber falling under Veken's patent protection."

"We can now support a consistent product with a strong national marketing campaign that will assure its long term success, and Veken is rightfully rewarded for their patented technological innovation in the process."

Bo Jin, a Veken executive, said, "We could not be more pleased with the progress in defense of our patents. We have witnessed the great success of our patented product in the North American market, and the long overdue return on our investment in innovation has finally arrived."

Veken and JLA (based in Fremont, Calif.) have worked together for years. The companies partnered to develop Microtec, a loftier, trade-up option of Coral fleece. Microtec fiber also falls under the same patent protection parameters.
