ITMA expands to add contract and hospitality

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 12/15/2003 12:00:00 AM

The International Textile Market Association (ITMA), producer of Showtime, is planning to enlarge its scope to include the contract and hospitality segments of the home furnishings textile industry.

In addition, said Andrew Purcell, ITMA president and president of Purcell International Group, the organization will actively look for ways to enhance international involvement, particularly with the established European market.

At the same time, ITMA is committed to maintaining the integrity of the shows members and participants. It will expand only with true mills, converters, tanneries or trim producers who fit their guidelines.

"Yes, we want a more comprehensive customer base, but we will not compromise the integrity of the show and its exhibitors. We don't want Showtime to become a flea market of textile products, and today, more than ever, it's vital that we maintain integrity and protect our membership," Purcell emphasized.

In addition to Purcell, ITMA's officers and directors for 2003-2005 are Jack Cobb, American Decorative Fabrics, vice president; Joey Hitzig, Arpel Leather, secretary; John Shane, Robert Allen Group, treasurer; and directors John Seymour, Quaker; John Kearns, Hamilton Fabric Sales; Dominick Anile, Culp; Linda Long, Crypton and Catherine Morsell, ITMA.
