D. Porthault Debuts at Bergdorf Goodman

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 5/19/2008 12:00:00 AM

Luxury retailer Bergdorf Goodman has unveiled its new D. Porthault boutique, featuring exclusive products and custom finishings, located in its Decorative Home area on the 7th floor.

The linen house was founded in Paris in 1920 by Madeleine and Daniel Porthault, and is said to have produced the world's first printed linen and terry. Clients over the years have included Catherine Deneuve, the Duchess of Windsor, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Each year, new designs are added; the archive now ranges over 10,000 patterns.

"Porthault is pleased to find a home in the most prestigious retail store in America," said D. Porthault co-owner Joan Carl.

Jim Gold, president and ceo, of Bergdorf Goodman said of D. Porthault, "We are proud to be collaborating with them on their first in-store boutique and excited to offer the breadth of their expertise in color, prints, embroidery, and customization to Bergdorf Goodman clients."
