Maples Mourns Casey's Death

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 9/1/2008 12:00:00 AM

Maples Industries is mourning the loss of one of its longtime sales representatives, Julie Ann Casey, 52, who suffered an accidental death while bicycling in Clearwater, Minn. near her home on Aug. 15.

Casey had spent the past 15 years of her career working with Maples — first via Minneapolis-based Swain & Associates, then later as a full-time employee for Maples, where she was assigned to service the company's business with Target Corp. She was based in Excelsior, Minn.

A bicycling enthusiast, Casey was riding with a group when she was struck by a turning semi-trailer. Casey died on the scene.

"All of us here at Maples are deeply saddened and shocked by this tragic loss," said John Maples, co-owner. "Julie was a very special person and we considered her an important part of our lives, both personally and in our work. She will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to her family in Minnesota."

Casey is survived by her husband, Jon, and two children — daughter, Tessa, and son, Brenner. She is also survived by her father and four brothers, nieces, nephews and in-laws. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
