NY Mayor Bloomberg declares Home Textiles Week

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 1/4/2010 12:00:00 AM

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has issued a mayoral proclamation declaring "Home Textiles Market Week" in connection with the event by the same name from Jan. 29 to Feb. 4 and again from Aug. 13 to 19.

The bi-annual market comprises mid- to high-end home textiles suppliers who produced new products each winter and summer for debut at the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF), which takes place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and the Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94 as well as in suppliers' showrooms at 230 Fifth Avenue and 7 West 34th Street.

The proclamation issuance has become a routine occurrence in advance of the event since NYIGF organizer George Little Management trademarked the name in 2007 after the Home Fashions Products Association dropped it in favor of New York Home Fashions Week for the showroom-based market.
