Target floats into New York for holidays

NEW YORK —

Target dropped anchor in the Hudson River a few short weeks ago, docking its Holiday Day Boat at Chelsea Piers through this past weekend.

Ninety-two items for gift-giving and decorating were displayed inside, ranging in price from a snowman glass ornament ($2.99) to a Sony camcorder ($299.99). Other products included a mini-fridge ($59.99), an Armor-All car care kit ($20), a Michael Graves Design waffle maker ($29.99), a Samsung dual deck DVD/VCR ($199.99), a Mossimo distressed leather blazer ($99.99) and a snowman down throw ($19.99), the lone home textiles offering. Customers purchasing an item took post-it notes bearing the product's name and image from the display area next to the item and purchased the product as they exited the boat.

Target will also ship these 92 items for free, whether ordered on the company's website through Dec. 15, or from the boat.
