Menomonee Falls, Wis. – Mid-tier retailer Kohl’s will convert more than 50 stores in New Jersey, Connecticut and Maryland to solar power, affecting about three-quarters of its 67 locations in the three states.
With the power conversions, Kohl’s said it will be “the largest retail host of solar power” and will operate the largest distributed solar program among retailers – referring to location-by-location electricity generation systems that require no transmission.
The 952-store company has already converted more than 25 of its 88 California stores to solar, and plans to gear up another 50 in the Golden State. It is analyzing additional locations nationwide.
