Bedding Maker VTX Gains Green Power

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 6/2/2008 12:00:00 AM

VTX has branded its certified organic cotton "KottonD'or" as part of its pro-environment push.

The 54-year-old bedding manufacturer, officially Vijayeswari Textiles, has obtained certification for its processing factory as a Zero Effluent Discharge Unit by the Indian government. VTX, which exports 90% of its production to the United States and U.K., is also certified under the Global Organic Textiles Standards of Control Union Certifications, or GOTS.

"Our plant facility uses green power. Sixty percent of our power is generated by windmill," the company said in a release about its eco initiative, adding that the KottonD'or branding was selected to convey that VTX's organic line is "as pure and precious as gold."

VTX is also investing in new facilities through its supply chain that will double its capacities. The company currently produces 2.8 million units per year, targeting the mid- and high-end segments of the market.
