American Textile Company Aids Susan G. Komen Cancer Fund

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 1/26/2009 12:00:00 AM

Basic bedding manufacturer American Textile Company raised $87,000 in 2008 in support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure national foundation, its Pittsburgh affiliate and related breast cancer research and awareness programs, the company said.

"Breast cancer touches so many women and families in Pittsburgh and across our country. We're proud to support efforts to find a cure and generate more awareness, especially among women who are at risk," said Jennifer Katz, vp of marketing communications. "We are thankful to the retailers that partnered with us for this initiative and to the consumers who purchased a pillow or a pillow protector in an effort to save lives."

Since 2005, American Textile's Pink Dreaming initiative has raised more than $285,000. The program offers polyester-filled bed pillows and protectors featuring pink coloring.

Retailers that partnered on Pink Dreaming last year included Altmeyer's, Amazon.com, Bi-Mart Stores, Boscov's, Century 21 Department Store, Fred Meyer, Gabriel Brothers, H.G. Buying, Home Outfitters, Kohl's, Linens n' Things, Ross Stores, Sears, Shopko, Stein Mart and Wal-Mart.com.
