-- Home Textiles Today, 6/24/2009 9:26:00 AM

Greensboro, N.C. – Unifi has announced an addition to its Repreve recycled fiber offerings – a filament polyester made entirely from post-consumer PET bottles.

The company also makes a hybrid blend of pre- and post-consumer waste as well as recycled filament nylon, recycled staple polyester and recycled performance fibers, which feature flame retardant, moister wicking, stretch and color technologies.

The company will show the new fiber at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market taking place July 21-24 in Salt Lake City.

The ensure that Repreve fabrics and products are traceable and certifiably sustainable, Unifi is introducing a verification program called U Trust. It will employ Unifi’s new Fiberprint technology to enhance traceability in analyzing the level of Repreve content in a product.

“The U Trust verification demonstrates our commitment to integrity and authenticity, which are part of Unifi’s core values,” said Roger Berrier, executive vp.
