Boston — Area rug supplier Merida is building on the success of its Metropolitan collection of New Zealand wool rugs with the addition of two colorways to its Central Park group.
The colors are blaze, which is inspired by autumnal leaves, and grasshopper, a bold green combined with earth tones. They will debut in mid-January during the International Area Rug Market in Atlanta, where Merida's showroom is space 9-E-13 in the Merchandise Mart.
New York's Museum of Modern Art selected Central Park as part of its permanent architecture and design collection in 1985 — 10 years after its introduction to the market — and established it as a modern classic for the home.
“Our Metropolitan collection is inspired by the sophistication of urban America,” said Maegan Fee, Merida's creative director. “The two new Central Park colors have a distinctive retro feel with a modern voice.”
This collection initially launched with a neutral palette of soft cream, taupe and heathered gray. The collection now includes several bolder color ways.
Metropolitan collection rugs are contemporary and sophisticated. They include chunky, felted wool loops and colorful pile heights of up to 2.75 inches.
All are available in custom and stock size area rugs. Aside from Central Park, the collection also comes in nine other New York lifestyle-inspired textures: Cape May, Chelsea, Delancey, Gramercy Park, Harlem, Jersey Shore, Park Slope, Soho and Riverside Park.
We would love your feedback!
