Saks Inc. fills voids left by retiring execs

In anticipation of several upcoming executive retirements, Saks Inc. last week announced several appointments in its Saks Support Group.

Dave Baker, executive vp, operations and logistics, and Jack Miller, senior vp, store planning, construction, maintenance and energy, will retire, effective Jan. 31, 2003.

Mike Rodgers and Dan Dasinger will assume Baker's responsibilities. Rodgers, senior vp, credit, will be promoted to executive vp, operations, e-business and credit on Jan. 31, 2003, taking on the additional responsibilities of purchasing, loss prevention and e-business. Dasinger, vp, logistics, will be promoted to senior vp, logistics on Jan. 31, 2003, with responsibility over all distribution, logistics and transportation functions.

Don Docken has joined the company as senior vp, store planning, construction, facilities and energy and will assume Miller's responsibilities.

All three will be based in Jackson, MS, and will report to Jim Coggin, president and chief administrative officer of Saks Inc.
