Connelly Springs, N.C. —
Circa 1801/Doblin is introducing Simply Natural, a collection of 25 jacquard fabrics made from certified 100% organic cotton, to debut at Showtime in High Point, N.C. next month.
The entire manufacturing process is environmentally friendly as are the dyestuffs and finishes, said John Lenox, president.
"We need to treat this world better," explained Lenox as he described the processes involved in the manufacture of the collection.
In addition to the organic cotton fiber, certified environmentally friendly dyes "that offer a faded quiet color story" are used along with sustainable and renewable biodegradable biosolvents to produce colors such as pumice, tofu, roses, quartz, cranberry, and saffron. In all, there are 15 filling yarns and 10 warps.
In the next collection, the color palette will feature a series of dark shades, Lenox said. Price points for the launch collection are from $10 to $20 a yard, with the fabrics with more color at the higher price points.
The part of the plant where these fabrics are made has received certification for production, Lenox explained; the weaving is segregated from the rest of the plant and the finishing chemicals are washed.
We would love your feedback!
