Dunquesne, Pa. —
The American Textiles Company is launching a new line of anti-allergen pillows and mattress pads at the fall New York Home Textiles Market.
The allergen-barrier products, called AllerEase, help ease the discomfort of people who are susceptible to the effects of dust mites, stated the company.
“These products encase a pillow or mattress with a barrier so that no dust mites or droppings can get through,” said Michael Guidry, director of product development. “This is also for people who don't suffer from allergies, because once people know what dust mites are, they definitely want protection from them.”
Traditionally, American Textiles has produced pillow cases, but will now begin producing pillows as well.
In addition to a cotton-based version, the company is producing a micro-fiber, polyester-based version called SneezeRelief.
American Textiles will also debut The Clean One — a cotton/polyester mattress pad that uses the same allergen-barrier fabrics but also has an antimicrobial polyester fill.
“The idea is clean inside, clean outside,” said Guidry.
