Fort Lee, N.J. — Textiles veteran Bernard Epstein passed away on Dec. 31, 2005, after a short illness. He was 80 years old.

In his long career, Epstein spent more than 50 years in the bedding business. He also worked for Rodless Decorators as well as Cadillac Curtain/Oxford Drapery during his career.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gladys Epstein, three children and their spouses, along with nine grandchildren.

Colleagues and friends in the trade remembered his advice, wisdom and his humor.

Jeffrey Erdhein, co-owner of Jeffery Fabric, described Epstein as “a most colorful character” and a friend of 30 years. “When in need I knew I could call on Bernie to listen to his words of wisdom.”

Leon Barocas, principal, Santee Print Works, said: “He was such a funny man and he always made me laugh when I needed to. Rest in peace, Bernie.”
