Atlanta -- Home Depot has hired John Costello as chief marketing officer, a new position created after the retirement earlier this year of Dick Sullivan as senior vp of marketing.
Costello was most recently chief global marketing officer at Yahoo. He was also senior executive vp of Sears from 1993 to 1998 and a member of the team that developed the "Softer Side of Sears" campaign. He also helped launch Sears' Internet and e-commerce initiatives.
Prior to Yahoo, he was president and ceo of MVP.com, an Internet sporting goods and outdoors company. He also served as president of AutoNation, the automotives retail chain, and as president and coo of Nielsen Marketing Research USA.
