Kohl's launches site in time for BTS

MENOMONEE FALLS, WI —

While other retailers flocked to the Web with sites in the last year or two to sell their wares, Kohl's concentrated instead on becoming a national bricks-and-mortar retailer.

Now, however, the retailer has launched its online shopping website, timed to take advantage of for the Back-to-School season.

Though the company said that the site's volume will not be significant to the total business, it offers customers another measure of "convenience," one of Kohl's core values, and will serve as a vehicle to drive people into the stores, after they research products online.

The initial assortment has been carefully edited, though in time it will expand. Merchandise is only a few clicks away from the home page, and domestics are located in the Homestore section, in areas labeled Bath, Bedroom, Dining, Home Decor and Kitchen.

Besides product categories, some sections also list Get It! items, which are key seasonal basics, trends, and brands.

Kohls.com features the same advertised prices online as in the company's 354 stores nationwide. Selected sale merchandise will be showcased on the home page and on each department page. Like shopping a physical store, additional sale-priced items are available throughout the departments.
