New York —
German towel manufacturer Feiler has joined the Stellar Alliance, a collaborative group of manufacturers and markets with offices in New York, Germany and China.
Feiler specializes in a double-woven chenille branded as Feiler-Chenille that is resistant to wear and extremely colorfast, according to the company. During the first weaving process the cotton yarns are turned into a striped preliminary fabric, which contains all the color information in the exact sequence for the desired design — "almost like the design's DNA," said Ryan Jones, spokesman for the U.S. arm of the Stellar Alliance.
In a second weaving process the yarn is used as a weft yarn. Each millimeter of it contains part of the design. When weaving, weft by weft, the same designs will be seen on both sides of the fabric.
"We have been looking for a U.S. partner who understands both that sophisticated marketed as well as the high-end home textiles business," said Dagmar Schwedt, co-managing director of the company started in 1928 by her grandfather.
Feiler's product range includes luxury chenille and terry with chenille bordered bath towels. The company also manufactures robes, throws, dec pillows, toiletry bags, aprons, slippers, scarves and bibs.
Stellar Alliance spokesman Ryan Jones said of Feiler, "Not only do they make beautiful and unique products, but being a family-owned company, they fit in well with our other partners and our business model."
