Springs to close North Carolina facility

Bisceo, NC — Springs Industries announced today it will consolidate production in its fabric weaving operations and permanently close the Aileen Plant here next April, part of an ongoing series of moves to streamline operations.

The 95-year-old Aileen Plant uses older yarn spinning and weaving equipment and is not competitive compared to other Springs facilities, said Bill Easley, president, textile manufacturing. Springs uses the plant to make fabric for bedding and accessories.

In related news, all manufacturing and distributing of Regal brand product will be relocated to the company's new, state-of-the-art, 200,000-square-foot facility in Ellijay, GA, a move that had previously been announced.

At the new site, Regal will manufacture some kitchen and bath rugs and will also conduct all distribution for its imported goods, which make up about 25 percent of the division's total business.

The existing 200,000-square-foot facility in North Vernon, IN, will be closed. Regal's corporate headquarters will remain in North Vernon, but will be moved to a new site.
