Top retailers recognized by HFPA

White Plains, NY — The New York Home Textiles Show and the Home Fashion Products Association have announced the recipients of the 17th annual Retailer of the Year Awards.
The awards honor the home fashions industry in seven categories, in addition to the individual who has significantly contributed to home textiles merchandising. The awards will be presented April 14 at the Russian Tea Room in New York, where an expected 300 home textiles executives will be in attendance.
The 2002 Retailer of the Year winners are:
— Outstanding Retailer of the Year: Dick Fish, vp, dmm, domestics, Wal-Mart.
— Emerging Force in Home Textiles: Brylane (Accepting the award will be Charlie Pellenberg, vp, Brylane Home.)
— Excellence in Product Quality: JCPenney (Accepting the award will be Peter McGrath, senior vp, director of quality and sourcing, and Charles Chinni, senior vp and gmm of home and fine jewelry.)
— International Expansion: Wal-Mart (Accepting the award will be John Ryan, senior vp for global sourcing.)
— Merchandising Excellence: Burdines (Accepting the award will be Tim Adams, chairman & ceo.)
— Product Development Excellence: Target (Accepting the award will be Sandi Doyle, vp and merchandise manager, domestics.)
— Velocity of Market Expansion: Costco (Accepting the award will be Joe Portera, executive vp and ceo, eastern and Canadian divisions.)
— Visual Presentation: Z Gallerie (Accepting the award will be Carole Malfatti, owner and head buyer.)
